Liturgical Ministries

Adult Faith Formation: The purpose of the Adult Faith Formation program is to identify and assess the attitudes, interests and spiritual needs of our adult parishioners in order to plan faith formation opportunities for the future. Through these programs, the hope is that our parishioners will consciously grow in the life of Christ through experience, reflection, prayer, study and service to others. Brian Woodrow  is the director of the Altar Servers. Please contact Fr. Brian Woodrow at the Parish Office or contact Rosemary Malhame at 732-681-5985.

The purpose of the class is to update the parents in their knowledge of Baptism and to encourage them to be faithful to their promise to raise their children according to the teaching of the Catholic Church. Parents asking for Baptism for their child are asked to call the Parish Office at 732-681-0512 to make arrangements for the class and to set a date for the celebration of the Sacrament.

Legion of Mary: The world-wide Legion of Mary was started in Dublin, Ireland on the eve of the Feast of Our Lady's Nativity, September 7, 1921, by Frank Duff, Servant of God.

The Legion is organized on the model of the most efficient army of ancient Rome. The enemy here are those resisting the will of God. So, sustained by the Holy Spirit, Legionnaires battle to grow in personal sanctification and to bring God, through Mary, to the world. "The Legion of Mary presents the true face of the Catholic Church" to quote Pope John XXIII. Pope John Paul II called the Legion of Mary a movement of lay people which the church today calls to share in the priesthood of Christ. Membership is composed of practicing Catholics desiring to fulfill their role in the church's apostolate through the Legion. Active members enter a Praesidium as a Probationary for three months and experience the duties that the Legion requires.
For those who cannot perform the duties of active members, auxiliary membership, requiring a few daily prayers with the Rosary, is the basis of a large supporting body for the works and success of the Legion.
The Presidium of the Church of Saint Rose, Belmar is named "Our Lady, Star of the Sea." The next higher council is the "Immaculate Conception Curia" of Monmouth and Ocean Counties. The highest counsel is the "Conciliune Legionis" in Dublin. Frank Duff, Alfonso Lambe and Edel Quinn are deceased members who have been declared "Servant of God" or "Blessed" on the journey to being declared Saints.

To enroll in the Legion, apply to the Presidium. The names and numbers are in the church bulletin.

Lectors: The ministry of the Reader at Sunday Mass is to proclaim the first two Scripture passages and, in the absence of a Deacon, to announce the intentions for the General Intercessions. "In the readings, God speaks to his people of the mystery of salvation and nourishes their spirit; Christ is present through his word." (Roman Missal, General Instruction, #33) Thus the Church at Mass "receives the bread of life from the table of Christ's body and God's word unceasingly offers it to the faithful." (Vatican Council II, Constitution of Divine Revelation, m.21) If you wish to learn more about this ministry, you may contact Richard Weber at 732-531-0919

Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults: The Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA) is the process by which interested people become members of the Roman Catholic Church. The sweep of its vision includes the life of ongoing conversion that characterizes our Catholic Christian community. The RCIA consists of four periods of time: Inquiry, Catechumenate, Enlightenment (and Purification) and Mystagogia; and three public Rites, the Rite of Acceptance, the Rite of Sending to the Bishop and the reception of Sacraments on the night before Easter.

The process begins when a person shows interest in becoming a

Catholic and continues until the Feast of Pentecost following the reception of Sacraments at the Easter Vigil.

Those interested in becoming a fully initiated Catholic meet for worship on Sunday for the 10:00 a.m. Mass and again on Thursday evenings at 6:30PM.

The RCIA is directed by Sister Cecilia Maria, SSJ and a team of dedicated men and women who serve as catecl1ists and sponsors. For further information, please call 732-681-6266.

Saint Rose School of Religion (CCD): The Saint Rose School of Religion is an important part of the parish community. The School of Religion provides formal religious education for the children of the parish who attend the local public schools. Formal religious education begins when the child is ready for Kindergarten and continues until the reception of the sacrament of Confirmation which is usually early in the freshman year of high school.

All of our efforts and programs are intended to be a continuation and strengthening of the primary religious education that takes place within the family. It is the work of the Director of Religious Education to see that the policies and procedures of our parish program are implemented.

The School of Religion educates about 330 children in their faith each year. The program also prepares the students to receive the Sacraments of Reconciliation, Holy Eucharist and Confirmation. The children gather once a week in the parish school to learn about and love the Lord Jesus.

Assisting the director of Religious Education are many holy and dedicated volunteers. The School of Religion is supported by 47 dedicated men and women who are responding to their baptismal call, "Go forth and teach all nations." Without their help and support the program would not be able to fulfill its mission.

Serving as Director of Religious Education at this time is Sister Cecilia Maria, SSJ. Sister can be reached at 732-681-6266.

Saint Vincent de Paul Society: The Saint Vincent de Paul Society was formed to help people during times of emergency or financial difficulty. A small group of parishioners visit people with emergency situations and try to respond to their needs. Needed funds for the Society come from poor box donations, Rosary Altar Society donations and private gifts.

Scripture Program: The focus of this program is to help people gain a greater understanding and insight into their faith through reading and discussion of the scriptures in a group setting. Meeting new people, sharing our faith experiences and instilling a love for the scriptures, with the Bible as our backdrop are integral parts of the program. Meetings are Monday evenings at 7:00 in the Parish Center. Contact Deacon Gene Malhame at the Parish Office or 732-681-5985.

Youth Ministry: The youth are an important part of our parish, and membership in Youth Group helps teenagers live God's life more fully. Youth Ministry is for all teenagers from grades 7 through 8 - helping them grow in faith, come to know more about God and themselves, learning about Jesus and His presence in our church. All Youth Group activities are meant to keep teens alive in their faith.

The primary goal and focus of Youth Group is Jesus and to experience His presence in the church, with one another, through faith, friendship and fun. Jesus loved laughter, parties and swarms of kids. He told stories about banquets and feasts. He prayed with and healed others. He cherished intimate moments and good times with good friends.  He invites us to share those same kinds of experiences with one another and He promised that when we gather in His name, He would be there with us.  With His help, inspiration and grace we want to build a community of love and acceptance here at St. Rose and we want you to be a part of that with us!

Pope John Paul II wrote, “the church must become the traveling companion of youth.”  Our prayer is that the youth of St. Rose will become the traveling companion of the church!  Our hope is that all of our youth will take part in something in the following pages, or better yet . . everything!  Perhaps you have some ideas for our youth ministry program as well.  If there is anything else that you’d like to see happen here, let us know.

Come!  Join us!  Together let’s make our Youth Ministry the best it can be!

Our Youth Group usually meets on Sunday evenings in the parish center.  Meetings begin at 6:00 p.m. and end at 7:30 p.m.   Each evening will have a specific theme.  All seventh and eighth grade students are welcome.
